A World Class Ballet In Orange County

Planning to visit Southern California, make it a point to visit and learn about The Festival Ballet Theater. It may not necessarily be something you’d think about when you’re around this part of town but you should and here’s why.
The Festival Ballet Theatre is a gem for the county, a place for a guaranteed yearly entertainment through performing arts and a center of learning and resource for the community where it resides.
Every year, The Festival Ballet Theatre presents their signature shows, entertaining their loyal regulars and their anticipating visitors with live performances in Orange County.
Coming to the second half of the year, the dance company is getting ready for up and coming major events such as the Gala of the Stars on August 16 at Segerstrom Center for the Arts where they present visiting internationally-acclaimed ballet companies and their young proteges.
On October 12 and 13, the theater will perform a ballet rendition of a Russian folk tale, The Firebird, at the Irvine Barclay Theater. The performance will include repertoire excerpts from the famed Ballet Russes.
The seasonal and much-loved tradition, The Nutcracker, will be on December 7th to the 24th, adding to the family-friendly celebration this holiday season. In the meantime, the ballet company has scheduled one-hour renditions of this main show for school groups set for December 5th.
Already, the Festival Ballet Theater has scheduled events for 2020. Swan Lake for March 21 and 22, and a Southland Ballet Student Recital for June next year.
The Festival Ballet Theater also does education and outreach just like the one they do for the Nutcracker in December, fulfilling its mission to inspire and invite children to learn about the ballet as a performing art. The company schedules these yearly visits to nearby schools giving abridged performances in a narrated version of these classical fairytale dances.
It is the mission of The Festival Ballet Theater to deliver exhilarating and nurturing performances to entertain and uplift, as well as stimulating learning, encouragement and inspiration for children in the community.
Through the retelling of well-loved classical ballet in the best possible set and ballet dance performance like Don Quixote, Giselle, Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake, the dance company fulfills its vision every year as THE ballet in Orange County.
It is of no surprise that The Festival Ballet Theater’s founder and director, Salwa Rizkalla, has been honored and recognized in 2001 and 2014 for her work along with Helena Modjeska by the Arts Orange County the Legacy Award.
Artistic Director Salwa Riskalla has been a mainstay in the Orange County for the last thirty years, carrying out her work and mission through The Festival Ballet Theatre in Orange County. She has been recognized as Orange County’s 100 Most Influential.
